“The Northeast Kingdom is what it is.”
And nowhere else do businesses like the store rely so heavily on snowmobile traffic to get them through the winter.
“They’re most of our business in the winter,” said Phil Young, owner of the general store. The store’s restaurant, the Parker Pie Company, which serves up buffalo chicken pizzas, subs and housemade apple pies, often sees lines of snowmobilers out the door on Saturday nights. During the day snowmobilers like Mr. Rushford pop in and out, filling up on gas, sipping coffee and chewing the fat with Mr. Young and others....
